sigil 2

Yard Sign / 24” x 18” / 2025

Sigil 2 reappropriates the visual language of the Don’t Tread On Me symbol, pulling from themes of freedom, defense, and individual control while disrupting the clarity of its message. The introduction of the sigil consumes and distorts the image, shifting a symbol of autonomy into something fragmented and harder to locate, where meaning is no longer declared but eroded through interference. The piece uses a standard yard sign mounted into artificial grass, maintaining the format of outdoor messaging while the surface is treated as a drawing field. The sigil is built through repeated motion and layered marks, interrupting and overtaking the original composition to create tension between the underlying image and the accumulating form.
