sigil 1
Yard Sign / 24” x 18” / 2025
Sigil 1 re appropriates the visual language of a Trump campaign yard sign, removing its direct message and replacing it with a dense, unreadable mark. The familiar structure remains, but the clarity of political communication is disrupted as the sigil absorbs the space where language once functioned, turning a tool of persuasion into something ambiguous and unstable. The piece uses a standard yard sign mounted into artificial grass, maintaining the format of political signage while the surface is treated as a drawing field. The sigil is built through repeated motion and layering until it overtakes the original composition, allowing gesture to replace message within the rigid structure of the sign.
