shared ignition

Acrylic & Charcoal on Canvas / 40” x 50” / 2025

Shared ignition reflects on collective experience, using the image of gathering around a fire as both a point of connection and a source of unease. The chairs suggest presence and shared space, while the flame becomes ambiguous, sitting somewhere between warmth and destruction. Surrounded by looping and unstable marks, the fire reads as something that could either be contained or spreading beyond control. The piece holds tension between comfort and uncertainty, where what brings people together may also be what consumes them, and the act of watching becomes as important as the event itself.
